Diazepam during pregnancy and lactation, Diazepam category by FDA, its use during pregnancy and lactation its teratogenic effects are described.

Small amount of drug excrete into breast milk, if required low dose should be prescribed.

Diazepam drug crosses the placenta during pregnancy, animal studies revealed teratogenic effects Cleft palate, central nervous system malformations/encephalopathy, and permanent functional disturbances occurred in animal models at maternally toxic doses, Neonatal flaccidity, respiratory/feeding difficulties, and hypothermia have been reported in humans

Breast feeding

Diazepam Sedation, weight loss, and feeding difficulties have occurred in nursing infants.
