Doxylamine during pregnancy and lactation, Doxylamine category by FDA, its use during pregnancy and lactation its teratogenic effects are described.

Small amount of drug excrete into breast milk, if required low dose should be prescribed.

Doxylamine drug crosses the placenta, Adequate and well-controlled studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy (and there is no evidence of risk in later trimesters) Animal studies revealed no evidence of fetal harm, Clinical studies in pregnant women have not indicated an increased risk of abnormalities when this drug is administered in any trimester of pregnancy.

Breast feeding

Doxylamine antihistamines are excreted into human milk in low concentrations, occasional doses are not expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants.
