Clobazam during pregnancy and lactation, Clobazam category by FDA, its use during pregnancy and lactation its teratogenic effects are described.
Small amount of drug excrete into breast milk, if required low dose should be prescribed.

| Clobazam drug crosses the placenta during pregnancy, not recommended during pregnancy, drug should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Teratogenicity - congenital malformations, risk for withdrawal symptoms, neonatal flaccidity, respiratory and feeding difficulties, and hypothermia in children born to mothers who have been taking benzodiazepines late in pregnancy |
Breast feeding | Clobazam excretes in milk in small amount. Effect on nursing infants is unknown, chronic use associated with lethargic and to lose weight. |
This drug is only recommended for use during pregnancy when there are no alternatives and the benefit outweighs the risk.
