Effect of Nizatidine during pregnancy and breast feeding

Nizatidine during pregnancy and lactation, Nizatidine category by FDA, its use during pregnancy and lactation its teratogenic effects are described.

Nizatidine crosses the placenta, Animal studies have revealed no evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus, not enough data on human studies to show any teratogenic effects on nursing infants.

Breast feeding

Nizatidine excretes into breastmilk in small quantities, effect on nursing infant unknown, use with caution, nizatidine into breast milk was studied in three lactating women. Following administration of nizatidine 150 mg, either one time or every 12 hours for five doses, an average of 96 mcg of nizatidine was secreted into milk over 12 hours. This amount represents 0.064% of the maternal dose.
